Okay - all you booster draft junkies...mark this date on your calendar...December 23, 2011. That's right, a booster draft of Innistrad. We will use the standings to create the ladder for the 2012 MAGIC LADDER TOURNAMENT.
The Rules of the 2012 MAGIC LADDER TOURNAMENT will be:
1. Any person can join the ladder; however, after the booster draft tournament on December 23, 2011, any player wanting to join the ladder will start on the bottom rung.
2. Ranking of new players will be based on a "first come, first serve" basis. For example, if two new players show up one Friday Games Night, the first player will be placed on the bottom rung of the ladder, then the second player to show up will be placed below him or her.
3. A player on the ladder may only challenge another player two positions above him or her on the ladder. The higher ranked player must accept the challenge and play the match during that Friday Games Night.
4. After two matches, the higher ranked player may refuse to play the same player on the same Friday Games Night. For example, Susan is the higher ranked player. She has played John, who is two rungs on the ladder below her, two matches (possibly six games). She has won both matches. John asks her for another match and she is tired of playing against John and wants to challenge someone above her, so she refuses the match. However, Joey who is one rung below her, challenges Susan and she has not played against him this Friday Games Night. She has to play Joey sometime that night.
5. The winner of a match will exchange positions with the loser on the ladder.
6. A match will consist of three games, with the same deck. Players may sideboard up to 15 cards between games.
7. Decks can use any cards except for cards from special editions like: Unglued or World Tournament Decks. No proxy cards will be allowed. Any player can ask another player to remove card covers to prove a card's legitimacy.
8. If two Friday Games Nights pass without a player on the ladder being present, he or she will be placed in the "Stand-by Section" of the ladder and all players below that player will move up the ladder.
9. A player returning from the "Stand-by Section" will enter the ladder on the bottom rung, like a new player.
10. Any player that holds the top spot on the ladder for four consecutive Friday Games Nights will receive three booster packs and all the bragging rights associated with being at the top of the ladder.
11. Ladder rankings will be posted once a month on this blog, and Top Spot Winners of the booster pack will also be announced.
